COMMENT

ジャガールクルトがエルメスに依頼され製作したエトリエ。エトリエ（馬具の鐙）から着想を得た、長方形のケースと突き出たパイピングラグがアイコニックなケースデザインです。通称ドライバーズウォッチとも言われております。ドライバーズウオッチとはハンドルを握りながらも容易に時間を確認できる腕時計のことで、右に傾いたダイヤルを採用したものやラグが可動式になっているものなどが見られます。こちらは手首の内側のくるぶし付近に着用するタイプで、リューズが6時側にあるのも運転を前提とした配慮です。ダイヤルバリエーションの多い時計ですがサンレイ仕上げのダイヤル、バーインインデックス、ソリッドなペンシルハンドのコンビネーションと洗練された普遍的なデザインはかえって見つかりません。

非防水のドレスウォッチですが、過去に入水の経歴がみられず清潔なコンディションを保っています。小傷は少なく、大切に使用されてきたことがわかります。ダイヤルは美しい状態を保っております。またインデックスにダメージはなく、針も傷のない整った状態であり、きらりと光を反射します。

エルメスとジャガールクルト。両者は1928年から1972年にかけて、コラボレーションウォッチを製造してきました。ジャガールクルトはムーブメントの供給やケースの製造を担当し、一方で、エルメスはデザインにインスピレーションとアイデンティティを提供しました。この「エトリエ」はエルメスの馬術の背景と直接関連しており、エルメスが創業以来一貫しているテーマです。今日でもカフスやリング、その他のアクセサリーに見られます。

＜JAEGER LE COULTRE（ジャガー・ルクルト）＞は、現在も個性的なモデルを数多く製造し続けるマニュファクチュール。かつては、他の名門メーカー（ヴァシュロン・コンスタンタン、オーデマピゲ、パテックフィリップ、カルティエ等）にもムーブメントやパーツ等のエボーシュを供給していました。始まりは1183年、スイスの小さな工房から。「科学によって立つ」という信念のもと、信頼ある機械・製造ラインを作ることに力を入れ、時計の中心地であったスイスで、高級ブランドに時計の機械・部品製造の先端を行く供給元に成長しました。＜レベルソ＞を代表する自社ブレンドモデルなど、現在では数少ない自社生産のマニファクチュールブランドです。

COMMENT

This Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, crafted at the request of Hermès, is known as the Etrier. Inspired by horse stirrups, it features an iconic rectangular case with protruding piping lugs. Commonly referred to as a driver's watch, it is designed for easy time reading while holding a steering wheel. Such watches often have tilted dials or movable lugs. This model is worn on the inner wrist near the knuckle, with the crown positioned at 6 o'clock for convenient adjustment during driving. While there are many dial variations, the combination of a sunray-finished dial, bar indices, and solid pencil hands exemplifies a refined and timeless design that is rarely seen.

Although it is a non-waterproof dress watch, it has no history of water damage and remains in pristine condition. The watch exhibits minimal scratches, indicating careful use. The dial is beautifully preserved, with undamaged indices and scratch-free hands that reflect light brilliantly.

Hermès and Jaeger-LeCoultre collaborated on watches from 1928 to 1972. Jaeger-LeCoultre supplied movements and cases, while Hermès provided design inspiration and identity.
